An Update From Artex

So Mommy and Daddy brought me home a basket of goodies yesterday, including a new bed and new toys! I love my new bed; it’s so warm and cozy. Just how I like them!

Grammy was over yesterday to help Mommy decorate for Halloween. I gave her a good bite for not visiting more often. Apparently, she’ll be caring for me this weekend while Mommy and Daddy go away. I wish they were taking me with them, I love car trips! Oh well, I’ll just torture Grammy while I’m gone and Dinner too! Dinner is my new friend squirrel. He comes to the back porch to visit me every day! Daddy calls him Charlie, but his real name is dinner because if I ever get the chance to go through the window, that’s what he’s going to be!

Everyone is getting excited about the new baby, but I thought it was still months away. Perhaps it just seems that way because I’m a cat, but that’s ok. On Friday, Mommy brought home a baby carriage; I had to test it out first. Mommy took some pictures. I’m sure she’ll post them soon too! You’ll have to check back for them.

Well, it’s time for a cat nap, because that’s what I do!

Seventeen Weeks

So here we are again at 17 weeks. It's hard to believe I'm almost half way though this thing.... but the fun has yet to begin.
I had a dentist appointment yesterday. Matthew took off to stay home with me as I had two teeth pulled and felt horrible all day (and still feel horrible today). Hopefully the pain will go away soon because it's driving me crazy.
Normally, they would have waited until after I had the baby to torture me... but unfortunately these two teeth had to go (since I haven't had dental work done in many years due to lack of insurance.. it was pretty bad)... but the reward will be much better... I won't hurt anymore (at least after the hurt goes away now).
My next doctor appointment is November 1st. I had to move it from Halloween due to proposal due dates at work. My boss is totally cool about everything so I try to not conflict with events in the office whenever possible and sometimes that's hard to plan in advance. It's working for the most part, just a shift of appointments now and then. One day isn't going to make a huge difference. Plus then I can sleep in after the Halloween Party our upstairs neighbor is planning on having (if I can even make it past 9pm).
In other news, Artex has a new friend.... a squirrel who sits on our back porch often. He even comes up to the window and Artex goes insane! Matt named him Charlie, but Artex told me to call him dinner… because if he ever gets through the window that’s what he’ll be! It’s funny to watch them. Artex is always sitting in the window waiting for him to come up on the porch.
Matt and I will be going out of town next week on a small road trip. JMT is sending me to York for a meeting and Matthew woo hoo! I can’t wait. It’s like a free vacation. My mom will be Kitty Sitting for me… I’m sure he’ll get a bite or two before the weekends over.
Well it’s that time so I’m out.

Laps

My title is exactly what I feel like the baby is doing, laps in my stomach! Apparently he/she thinks I’m an Olympic swimming pool and it’s time to practice some freestyle laps with a few somersault turns. AHHHHH … ok… rubbing the belly seems to calm him/her down so that’s what I’ve been doing. It’s truly a weird feeling but I’m getting use to it with each day and it’s not as noticeable or making me feel ill.

Morning sickness seems to have passed as I haven’t had a bad experience in about two weeks (knock on wood very loudly!!!)…. So now the excitement is really kicking in. Matthew and I have been “discussing” names almost daily and constantly disagreeing….. the only thing we agreed on so far is we really want to paint the baby’s room a light green.. unless it’s a girl and then I’m hell bent it’s gonna be purple!

On the “Fun Stuff” page, we posted a poll with some of our name choices (many of which we disagree on)… but we wanted to see what our families thought of the name options. As the baby gets closer to birth, we’ll be narrowing it down (obviously we will knock off a whole list when we find out the sex… which we do want to find out)…. But for now it’s just a long list of options we’ve suggested. One thing we agreed on for names is something that’s a bit unique but yet still common. We’ve tried to steer clear of very common names just because they are common. A name is such an important identity; we want to make sure it’s perfect!

So in other news in our life, Matthew is number one in our fantasy football league and I’m only trailing by 99 points in third place. This week I took down the only person in the league left undefeated and it felt good! We’re doing well so keep your fingers crossed because if we do well we might just win some money!

This weekend we’re thinking of going to a baby event at the Monroeville Expo mart. My mom sent me the information and it looks kinda fun so if we can swing it, we’ll make it happen. Also, we want to go to the Pittsburgh Pet Expo at the DL Convention Center… might do both in one day or just one. We’re really not sure yet. We have a few other things needing accomplished this weekend.

Well that’s about it for now, perhaps I’ll pester Matthew to write a journal entry one of these weeks!

Heartbeats

Matthew and I went to the doctors yesterday for a check up. Matthew is making it a point to go to as many of the appointments as he can, I'm glad too! I like having him there and a part of the process...

We got to hear the heartbeat yesterday. The doctor said it was 145 which is perfect. It sounded like a crazy haunted house though coming through the speaker of the machine. CRAZY!

If you believe in the old wives tale of under 140/over 140... it would mean there's a 50% chance we're having a girl ... Ha as if I didn't know that already.

I go back for another appointment on October 31... Why did I let them pick my favorite holiday??? Oh well. I'm getting a flu shot that day too so I might just take the day off... Why not! I deserve it!!!

Monday I have a few more doctor/dentist appointments. I need to have a few teeth pulled. Just general work that needed done but I couldn't afford it without insurance. Thank god for insurance at this point!

It's been a crazy process thus far and it's only going to get crazier!
